I've helped empower thousands of women to take action through fitness, nutrition, meditation, personal development, and aligning thoughts with action. This podcast is for those who are ready to feel inspired and motivated to live a more purposeful life. Let's grow together. If you've ever worked with me, or even if you just follow me on Instagram, you've heard me say you have to know your why. In today's podcast, I'm going to talk all about how knowing your why can transform your journey from a have to to a want-to. Knowing your why is your fundamental driver to achieve anything you want in life. So let's make sure you get it right. Let's get started. Hello, friends. Welcome to the podcast. Before we start, I just have to acknowledge that we have officially hit 170,000 downloads on the Better Me With Body by Brie podcast. And I am so honored. This is all because of your love and support. I truly love helping and educating women, and I'm so grateful that I have a job that allows me to do that, but I know that it would be nothing without you. So thank you so much for all of your reviews, all of your subscriptions, and just joining my tribe of women. It's really exciting and I'm so grateful. Thank you, thank you. All right, let's get into the meat of this podcast because it's a good one and it can actually change your life. Have you ever started a new fitness program and you've been so excited? You start meal prepping for the whole week, you get all your workouts in, plus you do the extra cardio that you didn't have to do, and you feel on top of the world. Well, then life hits and it starts getting a little harder and you start losing motivation. So then you let one or two things slip till all of a sudden you just throw in the towel and you feel like a big failure. Well, I'm here to tell you, you are not alone. In fact, this happens to most people in their life. So, how do you overcome it? You have to have a strong enough why. This doesn't just apply to fitness, it actually applies to everything in your life. It can apply to motherhood, your career, your fitness, your relationships. Really anything you put time and effort into usually has a very deep-rooted why behind it. So, what's your driver? What's the motivation behind that behavior or action? And believe me, it's usually a lot deeper than just getting a six-pack. When we're connected to a deeper why, we're able to push through that lack of motivation and we're able to rely on discipline because we have to have a bigger vision of um like what we really want in life. We have to have a true value tied to a specific habit. So, for example, my why to work out every day is that I have found that I'm a more productive um person. I am happier, I'm more patient with my children, I have more energy, I notice that I actually sleep better, my digestion is better, I have more confidence, I get endorphins, I feel proud of myself. So because I know that that's how working out makes me feel, I will never lose my relationship with working out because I know the value that it brings to my life. So no matter how busy I am, no matter what I have going on in life, I will always make time to work out because it's important to me and we make time for things that are important. So that's the lens that I see my fitness through. Whereas someone else might see working out as an inconvenience, it's annoying, it's frustrating, it's a time sucker, it's just another thing on their to-do list, um, it's expensive, it's hard to get done, you're tired and you don't have energy to do it. You see how the difference in those lenses make all the difference in how you see it, which evokes either a positive relationship to it or a negative relationship to it. And really the secret is to make that why be positive. It cannot be driven from something negative in your life, like, oh, I want to be healthier so I don't get made fun of or so I don't get bullied in school. Like that's not gonna help you as much as a positive um why would be. So it's really important that you come from a place of gratitude, a place of wanting to improve, or a place of positivity instead of negativity. And the same goes from work. Like, why do you hustle every day to provide for your family? Why are you working so hard day in and day out? And for me, it's the women that I get to help because I truly believe that I am helping to change lives. And that's important for me. That's a core belief system that I hold for myself. And no matter how hard it gets with work or how burnt out I am, I can always find peace and joy in my decision because my values align with my actions of my job. So I'm going for this podcast, I'm gonna focus on health and fitness because that's my forte. But you can apply this to any area of your life. Like it goes for your relationship for with your marriage or your children or being a mother, right? Like giving up so much time of who you are. If you have a value system behind why you're doing it, then it's enjoyable. If you don't, then you get resentful, right? So how do you find your why? First, you have to know what you value in life. Is it your health, energy, relationships? What is your main driver in life? Do you want to be healthy so you can have fun with your kids? Or is it important for you to feel confident? Do you want to be healthier mentally? What is that main driver? And I will say that it can actually change depending on what season of life you're in, and that's okay. When I was a new mom, my motivators were very different than they are now. Like when I was a new mom, I just wanted to survive the day. So my why would be, I just want to feel like a little piece of myself again, right? Versus now I really want to feel like an athlete. Like I love feeling strong and fast and feeling kind of like an athlete even after I've had three kids. So you have to know that it's going to definitely change with the season of life you're in, and that's okay. So just make your why according to where you're at now. Another thing that can play a factor is your personality type or your Enneagram number. So I actually have a whole podcast on this. If you haven't heard of what an Enneagram is, it's basically you have nine different personality types, and we all have a basic motivator and a basic fear in life, and we're driven by those to create habits and actions in our life. And like I said, I have a whole podcast on this, and I go through each Enneagram type and explain. But just to give you an idea of what I'm talking about, an Enneagram three will be motivated to look good. Like their physical appearance is very important to them. And they can be a little vain, not in a bad way, just like they like to look good, and that's okay. So maybe having a six-pack is a real motivator for them because they do like to look good. That is something that they value. Um, but if you are an Enneagram 7 like me, um, you might be motivated by fun. So you maybe want to stay healthy because you like to have adventure and be playful and have energy and really get the most out of life. And so that's your motivator, right? Or maybe if you're a two, you are motivated to help others and you're a nurturer. So maybe your motivation to be healthy is so you can help your loved ones or you can be an energetic mother, you know. So you get my point. It's important to identify your personality so that you can hone in on what drives you and what connects you to your why. Because for me, getting a six-pack isn't enough to keep me motivated. Like, I just don't care enough about it to push me. I'm not gonna get myself out of bed to be like, yes, I need that six pack. Like, I just don't care really about the six pack. I care how I feel, I care what kind of person I am, I care that I have energy, I care that I can go to the trampoline place and jump on the tramp with all of my kids and, you know, go on all these adventures. That's what I care about. I don't really care about the six-pack, but someone else might care about the six-pack, and that's okay. That's just where you're at. So I want you to do some homework. You are going to try and identify what your main driver is or motivator is in life and attach a Y to that for your health and fitness. And I want you to write it down and then tape it to your mirror. If you want to go one step farther, you can meditate on it five minutes a day. So I know that might sound scary. Some people are like, oh, I don't know what meditation is, I don't know how to do it. But if you do any of my programs or you follow me on Instagram, I am a big meditator and I am a huge believer in it. You have to cement this into your brain. And so if you just spend five minutes a day and visualize the type of person you are and what like why you want to put your health and nutrition as a priority. How does it make you feel? Visualize how you act, visualize what emotions are present when you show up as that person, and then visualize being that person and let it sink in until you become her, right? Like you can't just wish for it, like actually visualize it and work for it. And it's very, very powerful. So um, you can do this. You really can do this. Like you are so much stronger than you think. You just have to have the right tools and the support system to get you there. So I'm giving you a little bit of that today. I try to give as many golden nuggets as I can because I um have told you this before, but I'm a behavioral change specialist as well as a mindfulness meditation coach. And so I try to incorporate all of these tools that I've learned into my training so that my clients really get a well-rounded um training from me and they're able to see like mind, body, and soul, and they're able to connect the three, and that's when it's truly transformative. So I'm here if you want to take your help to the next level and prioritize yourself so that you can live the life that you've always wanted. And hopefully this helps. Go find your why. I promise it'll be life-changing once you have that connected to the goals that you really want in life. Thank you so much for listening and I will see you back here next time.
