Episode 74: Inspired by Jody Moore
[00:00:00] Hello, this is the Living Well with PMDD podcast. I'm your host, Heidi Bradford, certified life coach, mom of five and PMDD Survivor. Happy to have you here. This podcast is for informational and educational purposes only, and should not be considered health advice.
Hello. I am so happy to be with you today. How are you doing? , I so look forward to sharing with you how Jodi Moore has inspired me and in what ways. But before that, I just wanna address that man there are some sad things that have happened in our world lately. Uh, the assassination of Charlie Kirk. , Yesterday, the passing of President Nelson, who was a prominent church leader and a well loved heart surgeon. And [00:01:00] yesterday there was a violent attack on people worshiping at a church in Michigan.
And I just sometimes cannot fathom what is going on. How can this be the world that we live in? Particularly I think of how blessed we are, how much abundance is around us , we have plenty of food. In the United States, we have a good welfare program for people that are struggling for when you are out of work.
, There are ways to get help and we have mental health providers and we have counseling and anyway, just with all that we have, I still get stunned with these acts of violence and terror that take place.
You probably already know you have permission to cry, to have whatever feelings you have about [00:02:00] events that happen in your life and these events that have happened here in the United States. Um, but I do want to offer that. Um, God is with us. He'll support us, that we will support each other, that you have people that you can turn to and confide in.
Please don't just suffer alone., I believe that through time and through others, and through , through Jesus Christ, we can heal . Even from tragedies and , it does sometimes take time. It really does. Okay.
, So enough with the sad and somewhat heavy, and we're gonna move to something more fun and lighthearted.
Being inspired by Jody Moore. I am doing this episode because I recently attended a marketing conference with her in San Diego. , She was running the show, it was her marketing [00:03:00] conference, and there were about 40 entrepreneurs there to learn her methods and ways of marketing and to design an offer and get specific one-on-one help from, from her. And then she had three other coaches with her for, um, some breakout sessions. We did. Oh my gosh. It was amazing. It was incredible. And she just, she delivered.
She's been on my mind and I've been thinking about how, I'm just so blessed that a friend introduced me to Jodi Moore and to her life coaching membership five or six years ago, and so I thought I will just give her a shout out and share with you how she's inspired me. I think just in the listening of this, it will be inspiring to you., I hope you enjoy it.
If you don't know who Jody Moore is, you should look her [00:04:00] up. JODY. It's Jody with a y and Moore, M-O-O-R-E. She has a podcast Better Than Happy, and she has a life coaching membership, also called Better Than Happy. Then she does some things for entrepreneurs and business owners and coaches as well, service providers mainly.
I was thinking about this podcast episode and I thought, how has she inspired me? And it's really in three ways with her teachings, with her coaching, and with her example, teachings, I'm gonna start with that. , Through her membership, one of the main teachings I came away with was that you are responsible for you and your life.
And if it sucks, that's on you. And if it's [00:05:00] awesome, it's on you. Like you get to take some credit for the, the awesomeness of your life too.
I found Jodi through a friend. I was living in Spokane, Washington, and we had come back from living overseas for five years. We were thrown into this situation where my husband needed to start work right away at the base there in, Spokane. We didn't have any vehicles because our vehicles were Japanese and couldn't bring them to the United States. And , we had about half of our belongings got moldy and the, the transfer of all of our belongings back to the United States. The insurance and all of that, they were not, , very helpful.
, It was a very, very hard [00:06:00] process due to some things that the military had said to the company , and they didn't follow protocol for mold being found. And of course, we're just the middleman, you know, we just get caught in this middle of well. I am me. I was seven months pregnant. I can't be in the house for more than 30 minutes without feeling sick and needing to start throwing up.
We have little kids and what do we do, right? It had been a really crazy year we got back to the states in 2019. . I didn't find Jodi until the following year, in August of 2020, which we all know 2020 was crazy in and of itself. Right. But , I went to dinner with some of my girlfriends, and on the way back, as I got out of my car, one of them said, I know you said you're okay today, but if you're not okay, tomorrow or [00:07:00] somewhere down the road
you should look up Jody Moore. She can help. I'm in her membership and it's been amazing for me. , I said thank you and a little bit of time passed,
, we'd just gotten news that my husband was gonna be deploying , in September and I was freaking out. I was like, this is such bad timing. I don't know how I can handle our, our life right now without the support of my husband.
And so that's how it came up. And then Rachel was kind enough to make this very gentle recommendation.
I did end up looking her up I did a one month trial, , in her membership, and I raised my hand and I got coached. If you don't know how her coaching membership [00:08:00] works, , there are live calls and maybe she doesn't even do it this way.
I still, but , there were a few calls a week, you would hop on Zoom. You'd put up your little virtual raise hand, and you could get coached either by Jodi or by one of her coaches in, in real time. , Other people were listening.
You didn't see them, you only saw yourself in the coach as far as the video goes. , You share what's bothering you and then they. Um, kind of take it apart and help you see it in other ways, and that , ended up just being life changing for me.
, The teaching of you were responsible for you and your life. It's had just a, a multiplicity of effects in my life of recognizing, oh, I don't like my life. What can I do to help it be [00:09:00] better? And oh my gosh, you mean I have control over this? And in some ways it's my fault that I haven't been taking control.
, Some other teachings , from her or that it's okay to mess up and that you need to dream and you need to live. That you're not responsible for others' feelings.
I will say, I think I took that one a little too far for a few months. , My husband felt like I had become this robot that was like. I don't care. I don't care about you, I don't care about the children. And if I don't make dinner, it doesn't matter. Like I kind of took it to an extreme, but I think that was necessary for me to come back to the middle, um, of, oh wait.
I do influence them and I influence how they feel and I influence the ease of their life.
Then another one [00:10:00] was, um, recognizing behaviors and thoughts and how they are affecting my life. Then addressing those so that I can actually change my life through, um, observing my behaviors and my thoughts and my feelings.
, I had never looked at changing my life through those, those methods, which , maybe a lot of you have. Maybe you've already found, , a lot of this .
Another thing , I don't know if teaching is the right word, but, , I extrapolated hope through my experience, with Jodi Moore and through, subsequent experiences with her too.
The last way that I wanna share that Jody Moore has inspired me is through her example. Jody actively pursues her dreams and desires. , I've heard, uh, her story [00:11:00] of receiving life coaching. And then she moved on to create a life coaching business and she continues to do that. And she acts on new ideas of helping coaches with their marketing and helping them build their business and helping other service providers with that.
She's very good at planning and following through. She recognizes that change is okay. it can be really frustrating when Facebook changes their algorithm or something in Facebook ads changes . She has found ways to embrace that, to be okay with it, to decide to move on rather than looking backward .
Because she actively pursues her dreams a side benefit that I have received is that it feels like she's giving me permission to pursue mine. I [00:12:00] attended her marketing conference, , two weeks ago. She would present, she would take some q and a throughout. And then we did some breakout sessions, either with her or she had three other coaches there , that would help. There were some planning worksheets that we did in our groups or that evening on our own.
Then she sent us home with a checklist that refer back to the things that we wrote down in these planning sessions. , She just tied the whole thing up with a bow. It's so amazing her capacity to bring things together and implement them and follow through, , ride out any problems , and make it such a good experience for those involved.
I'm sure, she has some panic. I'm sure she's feeling [00:13:00] annoyance, she's a human right., We all have bad days and hard things that happened. But again, that's such a cool example that I have been able to see.
As far as a takeaway that I would offer to you for today is that you can do hard things if you really want to. You can also do amazing things if you really want to. , You can reach goals, but it is good to recognize do you really want to, because just because you can do something doesn't mean you should do it or that you have to do it.
, I really believe you can do the things you really wanna do and influence the world and those around you in ways that you want to. Jody Moore has helped me develop that belief.
During my time with Jody [00:14:00] and with these, um, other coaches and entrepreneurs, I did design a new offer, so you can keep your ears out for that. It is centered around weight loss.
If you're wondering, well, what about premenstrual disorders? I'm still here for you with that, , and I will still be talking about, new discoveries around premenstrual disorders and helping women , feel good about themselves and in their bodies. So there will be that too. , I can't wait. This program should be ready in about a week, so I will let you know If you already know you want more information about it, feel free to email me at heidi@heidibradfordcoaching.com, or you can go to my website, my Facebook, my Instagram.
I just started Instagram and I even did one video reel. I literally started that last week, of course, [00:15:00] inspired by Jody and her marketing conference. , some discomfort there, but I'm willing to be uncomfortable to reach new goals.
Have a really, really wonderful rest of your day. Rest, if you need to go for a run, if you need to cook some nutritious food, if , your body just needs some nourishing and we'll talk to you next time.
