Maritza: [00:00:00] Welcome to season two of Interpreters and Interrupters. Welcome back subscribers and followers, and thank you for returning and helping promote the show to other interpreters. Welcome to new listeners, wherever in the world you're at. I'm your host, Maritza.
Interpreters and Interrupters is a podcast for interpreters of all levels in all languages. I started this podcast in August of 2024. For the past 15 years, I freelanced as a Spanish legal interpreter before becoming a nationally certified medical interpreter. I speak four languages and spend my free time learning about linguistics and creating interesting content for this podcast.
New interpreters or those interested in becoming an interpreter can get information here on different types of interpreting careers.
Student or working interpreters can increase terminology skills by downloading season one's Ring of Fire episodes. These are interpreting [00:01:00] practices of legal, medical, and general terminology.
Season two brings a new series called Ask Madam Interpreter, which will be featured every month starting in May. In it, I'll be featuring answers to your questions. Whatever it is that you encounter, and you need an answer to send me a fan mail with your question or include the question below in the comments. I'll do my best to include it in the monthly Ask Madam Interpreter series.
Like I did in season one, I'll be interviewing interpreters that work in different areas like church interpreting, sports interpreting, and conference interpreting. This will give you the opportunity to figure out what type of interpreting you would like to do.
I will also bring you information on how to deal with the interruptions of the interpreting life.
Interpreters get interrupted all of the time. We get interrupted in our sessions by medical providers, judges, attorneys, defendants, patients. We get interrupted in our personal lives, by relationships, husbands, wives, partners, children.
We get interrupted in our careers, writing a resume, getting a reference, looking for a job, should I freelance or work full time at a hospital or at a court? All of these things affect our career and our wellbeing.
I'll do my [00:02:00] best to help you cope with all of those situations so that you can concentrate on the one thing that you are here for. Being the best interpreter that you can be.
Thank you for joining me. Let's get started with Season Two.
