Kari Jo:Welcome and on today's episode. I am so excited because you are going to love who I have on, especially if you have ever struggled with social media. Shaylee Hancock is the founder of Glow Sis Social and she has helped over 4,500. Yes, you've heard that right. Well over that, estheticians literally grow and market themselves, get new clients without feeling overwhelmed, and she's here on my episode today. She is going to break it down for estheticians. We're going to talk about what mistakes we're making. We're going to talk about what we really need to focus on to grow our business and maybe give us a little bit of a social media strategy. So, Shaylee, I'm so glad you're here. Welcome to the Esthetician Podcast.
Shaylee:Thank you. Thank you, Kari, so much for having me. It is such a pleasure. I'm really excited for today.
Kari Jo:Yeah, oh my gosh, I am so impressed by your own social media presence because you have built something phenomenal, like I mean seriously, congratulations.
Shaylee:Thank you. Thank you, it was a it was a work in progress, but there are strategies that you follow that I'm sure that we will get into today, that I followed myself growing my social media presence, and anyone can do it. You just got to be consistent and push through the hard things.
Kari Jo:Yes, I agree. I feel like in this industry it's just like who can persevere the longest. You just have to have that mindset like yeah, that's okay, it sucks now, but I'm I'm like not giving up, it's just going to keep going.
Shaylee:Exactly, and I think that that's with anything in life, you know, like not even just in the industry, but literally no matter what you do, it's the same thing. Like I really like the saying and I cannot recall who said it, but it says something like you there's no such thing as failure, Like the only time you fail is when you give up, and I believe that to my core.
Kari Jo:Oh my gosh, it is so true Cause when you're at that moment when you want to give up, like it's like that's the only time you're failing is if you choose to stop. So I love that. That was like a great quote. Well, I want to jump in and you know, I know so many estheticians. They feel completely overwhelmed by social media and they feel like they should be posting and it's just super exhausting. I know, like for me last year, I made a goal that I was going to post 365 days last year and not miss one day, and I did it and it was the most exhausting thing I've ever done in my life. Like I'm like I can't recommend it, but so I want to know, like, what do you think the biggest mistake is that you see all these estheticians making when they are trying to market themselves?
Shaylee:Yeah, I hear you. It is really hard unless you do this one thing. Now, there are kind of two different things that go into this biggest mistake, and it's not. It's going to surprise you if you're listening. It has nothing to do with what you're posting, how you're posting, creating content, writing captions. It has absolutely nothing to do with that.
Shaylee:The number one mistake that I see every single one of the estheticians that come into my circle that they're making and the reason why they are not booking clients or selling products from their social media, is because two things. Part one they are following other estheticians on their business profile. This can kind of be a tricky topic if I don't explain it. So there's this movement in the industry called community over competition. I'm sure you've heard it. It's really huge and I love what it's about. It's about bringing estheticians together instead of seeing each other as competition. That is all great, that is wonderful. I am all for networking and communicating with others and building that network of other estheticians to inspire you. However, there is a time and a place for that. When you are using social media as a business recruitment tool. So, aka, if you are using social media for booking local clients, every single thing you should do on that social media profile should be in some way trying to reach, connect or attract or convert people in your local area to book an appointment.
Shaylee:Now, there's a couple of different. I'm going to go into a little bit of education, if you don't mind, Kari Jo. So the education behind this and the strategy behind this is we all have heard about the Instagram algorithm or the Facebook or TikTok algorithm. No matter what social media platform you are on, there is an algorithm. However, everyone thinks that you know you have to play the algorithm game or you're going to get shadow banned or the algorithm is out to get you. And the reason I'm not growing is because of the algorithm. Well, really, it's not that. It's that you are the way you're acting on your social media account, the way you are interacting, posting, scrolling that is telling the algorithm how you want to use the platform. So, if you are on your business profile so, let's say, lashes by Jessica or facials by Jessica, whatever it is if you're on that profile and you are using it to just scroll reels, to do scroll, I like to call it scrolling and for some reason, you get distracted by a cooking video. I like to use cooking examples a lot because I like to watch those real. So if you slightly pause on a cooking video for two seconds, or if you like a cooking video, or if you send a cooking video to your sister or your mom, that is telling the algorithm that you want to see more cooking videos.
Shaylee:Now it's the same thing with following and interacting and liking and sharing other estheticians' posts. If you are following other estheticians, if other estheticians are following you, if you are sharing their posts to your stories, if you are liking their posts, if you're commenting on their posts, that is telling the algorithm that you want to reach other estheticians. You want to see other estheticians' content. You want your content to reach this community of people on social media. That is hurting you, so so so bad. That is not getting you any closer to reaching your actual goal of using social media as a tool, which is to book clients. So rather you need to save that for a separate account.
Shaylee:I teach and recommend creating a separate networking account. So it's positioning you as the professional. So if your business page is Lashes by Jessica, your networking account should solely be you should be following local community members, local businesses. You should be sharing and tagging and liking other local businesses. You should be interacting with the local hashtags, like hashtag Phoenix Arizona, hashtag Phoenix moms. You should be following and liking and interacting with those types of posts and accounts, because that then tells the algorithm okay, she wants me to push her content to people in Phoenix Arizona and that is what you want.
Shaylee:So that is part one of the biggest mistake I see people estheticians making is following other estheticians. And then the part two and this really goes hand in hand and I kind of touched on it but get off social media yourself. Stop consuming so much social media. And if you are consuming social media, make sure it's not heavy industry social media all the time, because subconsciously you are comparing yourself to other estheticians, to other people in the industry that have a completely different audience than you. Their dream clients are not like your specific, unique dream clients. So when you are scrolling through their posts or looking at other estheticians, you're thinking, oh well, that's working for her. Maybe I should do that on mine.
Shaylee:That is not going to help fill your books. It's actually like putting a block on your uniqueness. It's putting a block on your creativity, subconsciously, even if you're not intending for it to. But your brain is just so powerful that your brain is going to start comparing yourself to those other people or to those other social media profiles that you're looking at, and it just completely blocks off all creativity.
Shaylee:And the way you are going to book clients from social media in your area your unique dream clients is by being yourself and showing your unique self on social media. And the more that you can tap into that and really hone in on what makes you unique, that's going to get you further than anything, because people are attracted to you, are going to be attracted to you because of you and your personality. That's what's going to make them want to follow you and want to book with you. So the more that you can show them that, the better. And the easiest way to help yourself to do it, so that it's not as hard on yourself, is to just stop create more than you consume. Stop consuming for a few days a week and it makes the world of difference in the way you can create content.
Kari Jo:Oh my gosh, you have so many gold nuggets in that, so I'm not gonna like break that all apart. That was a lot. No, I know that was good and that and yes and yes, okay. So going back to the first part that you said about oh my gosh, I have like not following other estheticians.
Kari Jo:Yes, not, thank you, not following other estheticians. I I love that. That is so genius because if you think, like when I was growing my company, I followed all my clients. Like anytime a client followed me, I followed them back and then like I would go like and comment on all of their posts and that just makes so much sense because, like again, like somebody likes your page and their friends with so-and-so and you comment, then that's going to pick up on their like feed more. I like totally get what you're saying and I think that is the best golden nugget you need to. And I loved how you said even businesses Like I didn't do that, but that was really smart because I'm like thinking back and I'm like, yeah, I should have gone and interacted with different businesses. I didn't network as good as I should have. I really regret it. So I liked that tip. The other thing that you went into that I was like, yes, I love that, help me out. I should have. I need a note.
Kari Jo:You talked about how kind of get off social media and fall, you're following what everybody else is doing. When I last year, when I was, I committed to doing 365 posts for an entire year and I didn't miss. And the truth is is I was copying so much of what everybody else was doing, Cause it was I'm like, oh, that's working, oh, that's, maybe I'll try that and I'm doing that, and I'm doing that, and I did it. And then, december, I literally went blank. I didn't open up Instagram. I did not care about Instagram. I didn't want to be on Instagram.
Kari Jo:I made my goal, but it was so nice because in December, all of a sudden, my creativity came back. It hit me and I was like Kari, this is what you need to be known for, like this after all the years of talking, and then starting, like this year, I don't look at anyone's content at all and I'm posting myself. And, like I just told you right before we jumped on this call, I was like, yeah, I don't know what happened in January, I just started taking off. And now that you say I'm like, I think it's that. And now that you say that I'm like I think it's that.
Shaylee:Yes, yeah, I'm sure. I mean, how can you ever expect to stand out if you aren't showing your true, unique self? Like how? I don't understand how people can expect to stand out and get fully booked if they're not willing to stand out from the crowd? Right, and yeah, it's. That is definitely probably what played into it.
Kari Jo:Yeah, I mean, I love that. It is so true, and I guess we all probably sometimes follow for a while until, like you, come into your own, and so I love that. I think that's what people need to do. That was so good, okay. So all right. Now I want to go back. You have helped thousands of estheticians and you've helped them get more clients with all of your strategies. But I want to go back to an early moment in your own business, when you were growing Glow Sis Social. Did you ever feel stuck Like, oh crap, I don't know if this is going to work. And if you did, what was that moment and how did you push through?
Shaylee:that, yes, and it is so extremely vivid. I've shared this several times within my own community because I do think it's very powerful to see on social media. It's just such a huge part of our lives and a lot of the times we, you know, we see the highlight reels, we see these people, you know, being so successful and having so many followers and getting so many likes and comments and engagement and all of these things. But what you don't see is that point that you're asking me and everyone who has gotten to where they are now has been at that point. And the people who aren't at that point yet are either people who have quit, which means they gave up. If you're pushing, if you are trying and you just feel like you are at your breaking point, your breakthrough point is past your breaking point and you have to be able to push past that to to get there.
Shaylee:So my own personal one is super, super, super vivid. I remember it like it was yesterday. I started my social media account from zero, zilch, nothing, and now I have over 35,000 followers. But in the beginning it's hard starting a social media account from scratch. It is really hard, it's discouraging. Yeah, you get so excited, you have these hopes and dreams and aspirations and you just have all of this passion in your heart that you want to share to the world and you work so hard on every single post for it to turn around and get a couple hundred views. But the one thing well, first let me tell you the realization moment that I have that I had.
Shaylee:So I was, I had been trying to grow my socials for about six months, so in the grand scheme of things, it really wasn't that long. But I am the type of person who I just I don't ever think about like what could go wrong Is this can be a positive but also negative Like I always just focus on what I want, where I'm going to go, because it's gonna happen, I'm gonna make it happen and I just I have that aura about me, I guess, but it wasn't happening fast enough for me, and I think every single listening to this can probably relate to this in some way, shape or form where you wanted something, you worked really hard for something, you're working towards something right now and it's just not happening. It's not happening as fast as you wanted it to be or wanted it to happen, and that's where I was about six months in, I think I had at that time I had about 2000, maybe a little under 2000 followers. So I had grown a couple thousand followers within that six months. But then I felt like I just hit like a standstill, like I wasn't doing anything differently. I didn't stop doing anything, but it just wasn't happening.
Shaylee:And when you are an online business owner, when your growth stops happening, the sales stop happening too Right. And so at that time I you know I have a family, I have two little kids and so as a business owner you're listening, you understand that there's a lot more that goes into it than just starting a business Like you have the pressure on you to create a life for yourself and your family and make money so that you can live. You know what I mean. And not only that, but you want to impact so many people. And so at that time, like I had put my heart and soul and tears and sweat and late nights and missed time with my family. I might get a little bit emotional on this, but there were a lot of times that I put growing my business before things with my little girl, and I regret that to this day. But the good thing that came out of it is the perseverance. When I first was starting my business to make ends meet, so that I could build my business, I even picked up a paper route. So I strapped my six-month-old little girl into the backseat of the car and at four o'clock in the morning, every morning I would go and do a paper delivery route so that I could fund being able to grow my business. And so I'm telling you this because we've all sacrificed, we sacrifice things to be able to grow my business. And so I'm telling you this because we've all sacrificed, we sacrifice things to be able to take action on our dreams.
Shaylee:And the time where I was at my breaking point was about a year and a half into it, and I had sacrificed so much, I had put so much of myself out there and it just wasn't happening. I came to a standstill and I remember sitting downstairs on my couch in the dark. My kids had gone to bed and I was just in tears. I was just bawling, just so disappointed, discouraged, and I remember telling my husband I was like I think this is like a sign that I just I need to get a job. You know, I need to get another job because this isn't working, it's not paying the bills, I'm not making an impact the way that I wanted to, and it was. It was a real breaking point. At that moment, you know, I thought, wow, I have to give up. Like I have to be able to make money for my family and it's just not happening.
Shaylee:And my husband being the supportive person, he is happening. And my husband being the supportive person, he is. I don't think he really knew what he was getting into when he married me. I was not an entrepreneur at that point, so but but he is so, so amazing. And he said you know, you just, I think you should just push forward a little bit longer, let's hang on a little bit longer. And it really what, like, I can't express to you longer. And it really what, like, I can't express to you. I'm sure you felt it at this time, or hopefully you will feel this at some point, even though it's hard.
Shaylee:But being at that rock bottom really is like you have two choices to make. You are at the end of the rope. You either keep going and risk it all, pretty much like, okay, well, I don't know how I'm gonna pay my bills the next month, but I'm going to keep pushing or you quit and you go get another job. And that's where I was at, and he just encouraged me to push forward a little bit more. And so that night, as I was sobbing and puffy face and red eyes, you know I made the decision. I said, okay, I'm going to give myself three months. I don't know how I'm going to do it, I don't know how it's going to work, but I released that fear, fear of the unknown. I released that, like, I don't know how it's going to happen, but I have faith and I have trust that I'm going to give myself three months and I'm going to give it my all. And I did. And within 30 days I grew almost 20,000 followers.
Kari Jo:Holy cow.
Shaylee:Yep and it and it clicked. It clicked. And if that doesn't give you the motivation to know that, like when you are at your rock bottom, if you choose to and you can't I mean a lot of it is the mindset portion of like I am choosing to release the fear of the unknown and move forward and do what I can, there still has to be strategy behind it. You know what I mean. But you choose that and you act on it, because you can't just choose it, you have to act on it. You are going to achieve things that you never believe that you could in your life and that was one thing that I, you know I did.
Shaylee:To this day, I still have people send me DMS saying I was like I am an OG follower. I had someone messaged me the other day and say I'm an OG follower. I followed you from before. You had less than 200 followers, I was one of the first. And she's like it's so amazing to see you know the growth. And, yes, it is awesome, it is wonderful. I'm so grateful every single day for um, for the growth that I had. It's still still to this day. I have rocky points and challenges, like it doesn't just magically get easier, but it's how you respond and react to those moments that you have two ways to turn.
Kari Jo:Yeah, dang, that is good I'm. I'll keep going after hearing that. Okay, thank you for sharing. And, like, definitely thank you for sharing that tidbit about concentrating so hard on your business that you know you felt a little bit of struggle with missing out with your daughter.
Kari Jo:That is like one of my biggest passions is because I built my company from zero and sold it within eight years, and you don't do that without paying a price, and the price and the cost was my family, and when I sold my business and when I went through my hardest times, I realized my employees weren't there for me. Whatever who was, there was my family, and I was like I never will put them second, and so, like, when I went with this business this next time I was, now I do my family is first, always, and then this comes back, and so I I love that because I feel like that's a message we got to get out there. I feel like we need more women, because the truth is is I do believe that building a business is great and it's success, but your true legacy is your children, and so so put them first. They didn't choose for you to be a business owner, you chose it. Put your kids first and then let your business fall into place after. Don't lose sight of that, because success is so addicting that it's easily going to take over your life.
Kari Jo:So thank you for sharing that. Okay, you are an inspiration. You did it. You built all of this. You're great. You have great clientele. You know how to build a great clientele. You know how to get noticed on Instagram and everything. So what I want to know is basically what is the marketing strategy?
Shaylee:Yes, so for estheticians specifically and I'm going to I'm going to open it up to anyone in the aesthetics industry. This is lash artists, brow artists, body sculpting, med spas, injectors anyone in the aesthetics industry that is serving someone that, like you, you are the service provider to someone physical and you're trying to reach local clients. This is for you and even if you're still in school, if you're listening to this and you're still in school, now is the perfect time to start practicing these strategies and building a loyal following. I think a lot of times we as mentors, coaches, educators in the space, we forget that there are upcoming estheticians and people coming into the industry, that it doesn't have to start once you get into the industry. Starting right now, while you're still in school or in your program, is the perfect time to build your marketing presence because you don't have the pressure of having to get clients right. So I just wanted to put that out there. So I'm going to tie this kind of back into what we were just talking about on making sure you don't lose focus of the real success in life, which is yourself and your family. The reason I have created the programs that I've created is to and you too, Kari Jo, the programs you've created, we've created these things to help you skip some of that like just a headache and wanting to pull your hair out because, okay, maybe someone's listening and they, they have a family and they're trying to figure it out and they want to to be present for their family, but they are trying to figure it out on their own. And so how do you do that when you're trying to put your family first, but you have to figure all of this out yourself? Well, the good thing is there are people like myself and Kari Jo who have gone through these things and we are trying to help you skip that step, the headache, burnout, hustle. We're helping you get from point a to point b faster so that you can be present with your family or for yourself, so that you don't have to sacrifice those things as much as we did. Right so that.
Shaylee:So the marketing strategy the golden nugget, if you will, the fastest way from going to where you are now, to getting your books completely filled through marketing is several different things. Now, up until now, my main program has always been organic social media marketing, because that is what people feel confident with. It's so much a part of our daily lives that I feel that estheticians are like okay, I have to be on social media because that's what we do, that's how we get clients right. But the problem in this is we forget that there are so many other marketing avenues out there that are complementary to social media marketing. It doesn't just have to be social media and it shouldn't just be social media.
Shaylee:If you, right now, are only focused on social media to bring your clients in, or if that's like the main thing you're focusing on, it's going to take you a long time to fill your books. It's going to help and if you, if you do it strategically, you will see results. But you will see much faster and easier results if you combine several different strategies. It's like putting you don't want to put all your eggs in one basket. That saying it's the same thing with social media.
Shaylee:There are so many other amazing ways to get clients and fill your books because, if you think about it, the clients that you are trying to get are going.
Shaylee:They're not going to book from you the first time they see your, your social media post or drive by your storefront.
Shaylee:It takes people at least seven times to see something before they will consider taking action, which means it takes more than seven times way more than seven times of them seeing you or your marketing to be able to then take action and book an appointment.
Shaylee:So if you're solely focusing on letting social media do that, it's going to be really hard because, number one let's say you post something, only like 70, 70% of your followers aren't even going to see that post. A fraction of your followers See each post that you put out, which I teach in some of my other programs. It's okay to be redundant, it's okay to repurpose content, because not everyone is going to see your social media content. So if you're solely focusing on social media, it's going to take a long time to get those followers from the interest part of your marketing funnel to the conversion part of your marketing funnel, which is taking action and booking. You can do it, it is possible. Up until now, I have taught thousands of estheticians how to do it and they get results. But I'll tell you something and I haven't said this anywhere else yet, so you're hearing it first on the Esthetician Podcast with Kari Jo.
Shaylee:I love that. Thank you, yeah, of course, but so for the past two years I have put out a marketing Okay. So the Black Friday Marketing Prep Challenge. I've done a Valentine's Day Marketing Prep Challenge. I've done a Mother's Day marketing prep challenge for estheticians. In this challenge it's sometimes it's a seven day challenge, sometimes it's a 10 day challenge, but in this challenge I walk them through in 10 days seven days how to put together a bang and sale for black Friday or Valentine's Day or Mother's Day. Now I don't just teach social media in this challenge. So in these challenges, we do social media. We optimize our funnels, we create, write all of your email marketing so that you have emails going out. We optimize your website and then we get integrated into your community. We go partner with local businesses. We go partner with local coffee shops or boutiques or women's clinics and drum roll.
Shaylee:There is all of these challenges that I have hosted for Black Friday, valentine's Day and Mother's Day Hundreds of thousands, over $150,000 these estheticians have made in their sales. The average income that each participant makes from their Black Friday or Valentine's Day or Mother's Day sale is $2,000 to $3,000. Now we still have a Valentine's Day challenge going on right now. And Michelle, she's a hydrafacial, hydrafacialist. She it's not even Valentine's Day challenge going on right now. And Michelle, she's a hydrofacial, hydrofacial list. She it's not even Valentine's Day yet and she's made over $10,000 in her sale so far, and it's February 11. Over $10,000.
Shaylee:So this, the reason I'm telling you this is that okay if we were to just use social media, yes, you might sell a couple, you know, $300 packages, maybe $200 packages, but the power is in the combined marketing strategies the email, the getting into your community, the social media, the funnel itself, and it amplifies what you can do. I remember last Black Friday there was someone who is out of Cody Wyoming small town, cody Wyoming and she's like I was actually able to enjoy Thanksgiving. I put my phone away and sales were rolling in and it was like the best Black Friday we've ever had. And it's so powerful when you can strategically put all of these things together. Because, if you think about it, like I just said, people, it takes people over seven times to see something. Well, if you are putting out social media posts, if you're sending emails, even just twice a month, if you're sending out emails, if you have an optimized website, if you are integrating yourself physically into the community, you are giving your potential clients all of these different touch points to get those at least seven connections with you and your business and it will happen much faster. So the secret to marketing you asked me the marketing strategy and of course, there's so much more strategy that really goes into this.
Shaylee:It's not as complicated as you may feel like it is when you can integrate social media, email, marketing, website and into your community. It's. That is the secret formula. It really is, and it might seem overwhelming to think, oh, I have to do all of these things, not just social media, but actually it really is easier because you are not so focused on just social media.
Shaylee:For example, you don't have to post every day when you're doing all of these other things, if you're strategic enough and you follow a plan, a unique to you plan, not like someone saying, okay, post, this post, this post, this a unique to you plan. It feels natural, it feels aligned and you can connect with people in different ways. So someone who sees a post on Instagram of yours is going to feel differently than reading an email newsletter from you or seeing your booth at a local expo or trade show. It's going to connect with people's emotions in different ways, which is exactly what we want, because people purchase or book based on emotion.
Shaylee:If they feel connected to you in some way, the game is over. They're going to book with you. It's just a matter of time and you just have to nurture them and help them get there and, strategically, through all of those platforms. That's how you do it and it doesn't have to be hard. You don't have to send a million emails. You don't have to do a million expos, you don't have to post every day on social media, but if you take consistent, inspired action, that is what's going to fill your books.
Kari Jo:Yes, I love that. I agree, like, let's not post every day.
Shaylee:If you do, it's great, but you know you have to make sure you're being strategic about it or it's. It's a waste of your time. I hate to say it, but it is.
Kari Jo:Yes, well, so we are closing down. I want to ask cause. I built my brand on being fearless. Like you're going to face so many fears as you're building your business and in different stages, and you have to conquer them, and you have to face them every time in order to get the prosperity that you want. And so I want to ask you this question, which is what is your biggest fear that you had to overcome when you grew Glow Sis Social, and what did it take to push?
Shaylee:you past it? That's a really great question and the answer that I'm going to say, I think, will likely resonate with a lot of the estheticians who are listening to this, because I hear people say things like this all the time and it's the fear of being seen and the fear of taking up space, and it's a subconscious fear that I don't think when, like if you were to ask me that a couple of years ago, my answer would be completely different. But now, as I've started to build my business and I've gone through all of these you know ebbs and flows and ups and downs, I've always been like a very confident person. It's been a good thing, but it's also been a not so good thing. Just like everything in life, I don't have many fears, and so it gets me in trouble when I'm so confident that then I end up disappointing myself because I have such high expectations for myself and so, subconsciously, the fear that I have had to overcome which is ironic because it doesn't seem like this with the way I am outward. I'm very confident with myself, with and that's come from, you know years of of learning how to be confident with myself, but I think subconsciously it's the fear of being seen and the fear of taking up space, and especially with being online.
Shaylee:Online is is a very huge aspect of our lives right now, and when you are an esthetician, for example, and you want to just be the service provider, but now you have to be a content creator on social media or a copywriter for email marketing or all of these things, it's hard to put yourself out there, to be seen and to take up space. But what I have had to focus on myself and the advice that I give others, because I've had to take it myself is that you're not growing your business for anyone else but you, and if you let other people's judgments or the fear you have of being uncomfortable or being vulnerable, if you let those take over you, you're never, ever, ever going to reach the potential that you have inside of you to make the impact that you were meant to make. And it's one thing to say that, it's another thing to live it. And I think that we are all working on our own way of trying to be more open to showing ourselves on social media, and it doesn't mean that you have to put your whole life out there, but even just showing your face in a reel. That can be really scary, and so that's definitely something that I have had to work through myself.
Shaylee:And the fear thing is, um, and also also the fear of like being successful. Sometimes that is scary, and when you aren't prepared in your nervous system to hold wealth, to hold success, it's not going to, there's there's like a resistance, it's not going to to come to you. So you have to practice. Whether you know, I personally believe in you have to pull that strength and faith from somewhere so that you can practice being open to receiving that wealth, those bookings, those clients, whatever you want it to be, before it's going to come to you. And once you can do that and open yourself up to give but also to receive, that's when you can let go of that fear of being seen because you're so focused, laser focused on your potential, the impact you want to have, and that's what's going to make it happen for you.
Kari Jo:And that's what has happened with me. Yeah, and it is what has happened with you. You're just like Nelly in life. So I you are seriously a success story, and what I love about you is that you're not just a success story for yourself, but you actually genuinely love watching other people succeed, because I heard that when you were like, yes, so listen to what like girls got what like, do you believe I got that much? Listen to what like girls got wet, like. What I mean and I love that because that is a sign of like a true leader is not how many followers you have, it's really how many leaders that you created and you're creating all these great leaders in this aesthetics industry. That's going to show other estheticians hey, I can make it through this survival stage. I can build a clientele, and I love that about you. How can my followers find you?
Shaylee:Yes, so I am everywhere on all of the platforms, at glow sis social, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok um, Tik TOK, Facebook, wherever. And Kari, do you mind? Can I just show you? I liked what you said about being focused on other people's wins.
Shaylee:I'm going to turn my computer screen around, so my entire wall is covered in my students names, and I had to stop doing this because I ran out of space but each one of these, so it's, they're, they're all affirmation cards. So the one I'm looking at right now, her name, is Gabriela, and every time someone enrolled in my program, I would pull an affirmation card, I would write their name down and I would send it to them, and I can't tell you how many times they said wow, I really needed to hear that today. So this one, Gabrielle. It says I have purpose, I have worth, I am loved, and so all of these are like. I put them on my wall so that I can never lose focus on who I am serving, why I am doing this. I'm not doing this to be wealthy or rich, or you know. I'm doing this to be wealthy or rich, or you know, live in a giant mansion.
Shaylee:I am doing this to make an impact, to make a difference in the not just a bunch of lives, but in the lives of Gabriella Kimberly, lola Eileen. You know what I mean, and so that's what I would encourage these estheticians that are listening to do not put their name kind names up on the wall, but never lose focus of why you started and who you are serving, because when you can keep laser focused on that, your marketing is going to be easier, because you're not just posting the post. You're posting to make a difference.
Kari Jo:Oh my gosh, I love that. Well, thank you so much for all of your wisdom. Just really quick. If any of my listeners they want to join in on your challenge. Can anybody join in on that or like?
Shaylee:exactly so, um, I do a black Friday challenge, a Valentine's day challenge and a mark mother's day challenge, which will be coming up soon. It's $20 to join. I usually do like a cash prize giveaway at the end and they're making thousands. So definitely join. I'm not trying to make money on this.
