The Rainbow Within - A Chakra Meditation for Balance and Renewal

In this second episode of The Kay Manby Podcast, we explore the beauty and symbolism of the rainbow - as hope, as harmony, as a bridge between the physical and the spiritual.

Through gentle storytelling and guided meditation, you'll be invited to journey through the seven chakras. Each colour and centre brings a message of grounding, creativity, empowerment, love, truth, intuition and connection.

Blending myth, poetry and presence, this meditation is a soft return to balance — a reminder that, like the rainbow, you are whole, vibrant and made of light.

Let this time bring you back to yourself.

Hello and welcome. My name is Kay. I'm really glad you're here.

I hope this time together offers you a moment of calm, a breath of clarity and perhaps a step closer to your own inner peace. This is a poem called Raindrops by Caroline W.D. Rich. Falling, gleaming in the sunshine, down upon the fragrant hay, came a thousand tiny raindrops like a fairy host at play.

Through the clouds a golden sunbeam like a smile from heaven came. Instantly the falling raindrops changed into an arch of flame. Rainbows, such beautiful sights to see.

They represent hope, new beginnings, peace, equality, promise, luck and eternal life. They appear after a thunderstorm when everything appears to be really dark and they spread the light. In the process, they offer hope.

In the story in the Bible about Noah's Ark, Noah left the Ark to be greeted by a rainbow shining over the ocean, which was the sign of a new day and a promise of a better future. In Celtic and Irish mythology, leprechauns were said to hide their gold at the end of the rainbow for safekeeping. In Norse mythology, a rainbow was a sign of a fallen soldier and would act as a bridge between the mortal and immortal world, for which you would cross upon death in battle.

This is most common in Buddhist teaching, whereby on death your body transcends to a form known as the rainbow body or body of light. And in terms of equality, the unification of colors is often thought to symbolize equality and they've been used as a symbol of the LGBTQ societies to demonstrate equality and community. Symbolizing that all the colors of the rainbow are different, yet unique in their own way and combined to create one magnificent whole.

A single arching rainbow is the most common sight, but a double rainbow is symbolic of a transitional life. The first arc represents the material life on earth, while the second arc represents the spiritual life. The double arc is said to be a gateway between earth and the heavens.

You can get a triple rainbow, but they are very rare, but they are deemed to bring good luck to those that see it. So yes, maybe think of a rainbow. And for me, it represents calmness and tranquility.

They appear when the clouds break and the sun shines through. So make yourself comfortable and cozy. Let your body settle down into the mat, the floor, the bed, the sofa, the chair.

Surrender to the moment and let your breathing be slow and steady. Witness the ebb and flow, the in and the out, and find your rhythm, your gentle rhythm, and gently close your eyes. Invite your shoulders to soften, your jaw to loosen, your hands to rest naturally.

Imagine the skin on your face like silk, smooth and soft, no tension there. Feel yourself arriving in your body. In this moment, let your awareness drop into the stillness between the surface of your thoughts.

Let your breath become a bridge between body and mind, earth and sky. And then imagine a soft white light above your head, shimmering like the sun behind a veil of mist. From that light, a delicate rainbow begins to form, arching down through your body.

Each colour of the rainbow flows gently into the next, blending and balancing. No colour louder than the other, no force, just presence, a perfect symphony of light. And then come to the base of your spine, your root chakra.

Imagine a glowing red light, deep and warm like the earth's core. Feel its strength and grounding. Visualise the colour red expanding around your hips, your legs, your feet, anchoring you deeply into the earth.

You are safe, you are held, you belong. Let Mother Earth hold you gently in her warm embrace. Let the red blend gently into the next colour, like a dawn sky warming towards orange, peaceful and smooth.

So we come to your sacral chakra, the colour orange, and draw your attention to your lower abdomen, your sacral chakra. A soft, fluid orange light begins to swirl here, gentle like candlelight, playful like the ripples of a stream. This is your centre of emotion, creativity, sensuality.

Let orange dance softly within you, blending naturally with the red behind it, neither overpowering, just flowing. You are allowed to feel, you are allowed to create, you are allowed to desire. Feel that orange dance softly within you, just flowing.

Let this orange melt into golden warmth as we rise upward. Move your awareness to your belly, your solar plexus chakra. A glowing yellow light shines here, like the morning sun, your solar plexus, your power centre, your confidence, your will, your ambition.

Feel the yellow radiating warmth and strengthen, strengthen your whole torso. It doesn't dominate, it simply glows, like a quiet, steady fire, not a flickering candle, a steady light. Let this golden light flow into the orange below and the green above, a seamless gradient of self and heart.

You are capable, you are worthy, you are enough. Now gently rest your awareness in the centre of your chest, your heart chakra. A fresh, vibrant green unfurls like spring leaves after rain.

Breathe into this space. Feel the balance between giving and receiving, the gentle rhythm of love. The green holds hands with the golden yellow below and the soft blue above.

A harmony of expression, compassion and truth. Let your heart be soft, let it be strong, let it be whole and let it be loving. And then move gently towards your throat, your throat chakra.

A tranquil blue light appears, like a calm ocean or a cloudless sky. This is your voice, your truth, your communication, your expression. Let the blue gently ripple through your neck and jaw.

There's no pressure, only freedom. The freedom to speak clearly and to listen deeply. The green of your heart supports your truth.

The indigo of insight awaits above. You are heard, you are clear, you are true. And then shift your awareness to the space between your eyebrows, your third eye chakra.

Here a deep indigo light glows like twilight or starlight on velvet. This is your inner vision, your intuition, your deepest knowing. Let the indigo soften your mind, releasing clutter and confusion.

Here you see not with your eyes but with your spirit. The blue of your voice feeds into your insight. The violet of your crown calls to your soul.

You are wise, you are guided, you are open. Trust your intuition. Then moving on, up to the top of your head, your crown chakra.

A soft luminous violet appears, merging into shimmering white light. The rainbow's final breath. This is your connection to the divine, to the mystery, to the infinite.

Feel the violet light expanding, connecting you to the sky, the stars, the source of life itself. Each colour below supports this sacred opening. From red to violet, your rainbow flows.

In balance, in beauty, in stillness. You are light, you are love, you are whole. Now see the rainbow glowing within you, from base to crown.

Each colour distinct, yet blending gently into the next. No separation, no conflict, only harmony. Symbol of hope, promise, peace, equality, luck, new beginnings and eternal life.

Feel yourself as a living rainbow, grounded, creative, empowered, loving, truthful, wise and connected. Breathe here and let the colours settle into you, in harmony. Let the rainbow remain, quietly glowing within.

Now feel free to deepen your breath, wriggle your toes and fingers, ease your ankles and wrists. Feel free to rock from side to side and roll over onto your side. Falling, gleaming in the sunshine, down upon the fragrant hay, came a thousand tiny raindrops, like a fairy host at play.

Through the clouds a golden sunbeam, like a smile from heaven came. Instantly, the falling raindrops changed into an arch of flame. Notice how you're feeling, may you feel balanced, may you be in harmony.

You are just where you are meant to be in this moment, you are home. Namaste. Thank you for sharing this quiet space with me, I hope it brought you a sense of peace and presence.
