Taking aligned action is the key to your dream reality. All the steps we have discussed up to this point lead to this final step - taking action that is alignment with your dreams and goals. Today we are discussing how to take aligned action.
Manifesting your desires won't cost you a dime, but refusing to take aligned action can cost you your dream reality.
SPEAKER_01I'm your host, Shalee.
SPEAKER_02And I'm your co-host Sam.
SPEAKER_01And you're listening to Pathway to Empowerment, where we believe in thriving, not surviving.
SPEAKER_02You can visualize and affirm all day, but without physical execution, you are simply daydreaming. We have established a strong foundation in brain science, cognitive tools, identity psychology, mindset shifts, and optimism. We are now ready to tackle the final and most crucial step in the manifestation process, which is taking aligned action. This is where your inner work translates into tangible reality. So aligned action, optimism, and preparation serve as a measurable biological mechanism to reshape your brain's neural networks, bias your perception towards opportunities, and translate positive intent into results that you can see. To recap the importance of optimism and preparation quickly, optimism or predictive expectation and emotional fuel, optimism is the fuel that primes your nervous system. When you're optimistic about something, it heightens the activity in the prefrontal cortex of your brain. And that's the brain's executive functioning hub. When you anticipate a positive future, the brain releases dopamine, which increases the motivation and resilience in the face of setbacks.
SPEAKER_01Right? When we're when we're working towards letting go of things and exploring and adapting and striving for things rather than being paralyzed by the pessimism and the anxiety.
SPEAKER_02So then with aligned action.
SPEAKER_01With aligned action, we actually have the neural rewiring or the behavioral momentum that will help us with the optimism and the mental preparation, which then creates the starting points for genuine change to occur when we're in alignment with the actions we want to take. So the neuroscience behind that is the brain's ability to reorganize itself. When your behaviors match your mental intentions, the brain experiences congruency, which then releases releases confidence and boosts the neurotransmitters to turn to turning them into abstract from abstract ideas into actual pathways so that we can create and achieve what we're looking at and looking for.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So then we can get out of the magical thinking or you know, daydreaming aspect and do more of the steps to get us into the reality.
SPEAKER_01Believe that it will actually work for us by doing the steps that we need to take.
SPEAKER_02And every small step that we take towards those goals releases dopamine for us. It creates momentum and changes our self-concept along the way and reinforces our capability to achieve the larger picture goals.
SPEAKER_01Yep. The the higher objectives that we before would have never felt possible for ourselves.
SPEAKER_02Exactly.
SPEAKER_01We can go from a low-paying job to a higher paying job because we've built that momentum, we've built that belief, we've built that manifesting power to us.
SPEAKER_02So logically understanding all of this information that we've gone over throughout the month is one thing. But putting it all into action and actually going about taking these aligned actions that are necessary to accomplish our goals and manifest our dream reality is a is a whole other thing. So, Shalee, how can we execute aligned action each day?
SPEAKER_01So let's break it down a little bit first, okay? So identifying the immediate next step one to the next will be really helpful for us. So break down your ultimate goal into small, as small as you possibly can get it, so that you can find the actionable task in order to achieve it. So one of the things that I like to teach people is the SMART goals, right? And SMART is an acronym that helps us to break down something that we want to bring into our life into those bite-sized pieces, making it doable and possible for us to achieve it in a timed manner. So let's go over that really quickly and look at what SMART looks like. I know we've talked about it before, but I think it's helpful for us to break it down again on this in this in this opportunity for manifesting. So SMART stands for specific. So S is specific. So this is where we have to completely use it as a funnel system. If I can still break it down, it's not small enough. So for instance, if my goal is to work out, is that a small enough, is it specific enough?
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_01Absolutely not. So then I would have to say, I'm gonna work out for three days a week. Is that small enough and specific enough?
SPEAKER_02No, because it's still not how you're or what you're doing to work.
SPEAKER_01So then if I say, okay, I'm gonna work out and I'm gonna work out three days a week, and I'm gonna work out for 20 minutes a time, is it s is it specific enough?
SPEAKER_02You should have, you know, your what time of day or you know, all those kind of things.
SPEAKER_01What I'm gonna work out. Yeah. Like am I gonna do arms? Am I gonna do wigs? Am I gonna do core? What am I gonna do during those sessions? So until I can break it down to where I can't bring it any further, it's not specific enough. So specific, it really needs to be as broken down as you possibly can get it. And then the M is for measurable. Is it measurable? How am I going to measure my results? And if we we go back to what we just talked about working out, well, I can measure it because am I going three times a week? Am I doing 20 minutes? Have I worked out my arms, my core, my legs? Whatever I've put on my specific things. That's the first step of being measurable, right? But then I can start measuring different different things like did my muscle grow? Did my fat increase, decrease?
SPEAKER_02Did my are you able to lift more?
SPEAKER_01Yep, did my strength increase, decrease? So the things that we're looking for as measurable need to need to be specific as well. Does that make sense? Yeah. And then we've got to look at, is it achievable? So if I if I say I'm gonna work out and I'm gonna lose 50 pounds in a month, is that achievable? Probably not, right? Because the reality is for each one of us, if we're doing really good weight loss, we're gonna lose a pound or two, maybe every every month. Every week, you know, a week to a month. We don't we don't lose large amounts of fat in a month's period of time. So we need to make sure that it's achievable. Is it is it achievable to go three times a week when I work 60 hours a week? Am I really gonna put that effort in to go three times a week? So making sure that you're making it action, you know, is it achievable? Is is this something that I can really specifically do? Right? So then if we look at the R, R is relevant. Is this relevant? What I'm doing, what I've put on there, specific, measured, achievable, is it relevant to my life right now? And if it's relevant, why why do I know it's relevant? Well, maybe maybe I'm I mean, as a woman, maybe I'm pregnant and I can't really do a lot of these things. Is it gonna be relevant for me to go work out three times a week if I'm eight and a half, nine months pregnant? Probably not the best time to start, right? So we've got to look at relevancy as well. Is what I'm doing right now is it relevant to what I want to happen? And then the T stands for timed. So time management of it. And what that means is how long are you giving yourself to actually do this piece in order to achieve your goal that you've set for yourself? So, for instance, if I want to raise and my goal is to get a raise and I've done all of the these things, what time frame am I going to give myself before I then go to the boss and say, I've did X, Y, and Z, and I believe I deserve a raise, right? So making sure that you're putting that time piece in is important as well. Does that make does the goal, the SMART goal make sense to all of us? The reality is every single piece of a SMART goal has actionable steps for us to be successful. And when we start doing this, we start feeling better, we're we're manifesting things to help us along the way.
SPEAKER_02Well, and it provides a roadmap for us. A lot of us like we want a specific goal, but we don't necessarily know all the steps to get there. And doing these SMART goals puts it in a step-by-step, like roadmap form for us to follow.
SPEAKER_01100%. So the next thing to look at is utilizing the momentum that we get. One of the most important things to look at before we talk about tools that you can use for momentum is to remember some that momentum is a very powerful thing, but we're not going to have the motivation to do it. It shows up as we're doing it, and that's where the momentum comes from. So we don't have motivation until we do the thing to do the thing, and then the momentum that will continue us forward is is really important as well.
SPEAKER_02Well, and just like have you ever gotten in the habit of let's say you work out every day? Okay, and then something happens, you get sick, you miss several days, how hard is it to get back into the momentum of doing it every day?
SPEAKER_01Exactly.
SPEAKER_02It's very hard to just to get back into it.
SPEAKER_01So even though even though we know we feel better, we look better, we're all of the things help us, it's super hard for us to reattach to that motivation to do it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So keeping the momentum up is proof.
SPEAKER_01So there's actually quite a few productivity tools that help us map out or look at the micro steps. You can use Google Calendar, you to block out 15 minutes or so, you can use you know, non-negotiable execute execution time, you can set reminders on your phone, you can have an accountability buddy, you can do a lot of things as tools to help keep that momentum going.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Especially if you're using the smart goal format, because you can then, you know, have somebody that knows that you're working out at five o'clock every morning, every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning, so they'll know to check in on you on those days. Hey, how did it go today? You know, how you know, what are you thinking, what are you feeling? And regardless of what your goal is, there's so many online groups too.
SPEAKER_02Like if you don't have s like a a friend group near you, whatever niche it is, there's a group for it. I mean, uh in all likelihood. So get yourself in one of those groups. Get yourself talking to other people with similar goals and hold each other accountable.
SPEAKER_01Absolutely. That accountability buddy is crucial for most of us.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01We tend to find that per one person though that's gonna like placate us and try to use them as an accountability buddy, and we've gotta make sure if we're gonna use them, we've gotta also have another person that really will hold us accountable.
SPEAKER_00Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_01You know? Because it's e it's too easy to like slough off and and not participate.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and your friends a lot of the time can agree with your excuses. Oh, yep, you're right. It it was just a busy day for you. It was a busy week. Maybe you'll get do better next week.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_02Rather than holding you accountable.
SPEAKER_01Absolutely. So the next thing we need to really, really do is commit fully. Hold yourself completely accountable to those things. But committing fully means that you have 100% decided that this goal is something you want to achieve. And when you fully commit, it's amazing the things that you will hold yourself accountable for. For instance, like I started a health journey a couple of years ago, and I was talking to my daughter my youngest daughter and her friend a couple weekends ago, because we were doing a a fun a fun trip to Lagoon and they were drinking sodas. They were like, Hey, have a sip of this, and I was like, I haven't had soda, not even one sip in over three years. And they were like, What? How is that possible? Right? But I made a commitment to myself that sugar and empty calories, I wasn't gonna participate in them. If I'm gonna eat calories, I want to enjoy them more than just sip them. Does that make sense? So for me, I fully committed to no soda.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And so again, having those people in your life that are going to be beneficial for you that will really, really help you along your journey and hold you to the standards you want to be held to.
SPEAKER_02Part of fully committing to yourself to me, the part that I struggle with is I put myself on the back burner. I will put everybody else's needs, wants, desires ahead of my own. And then by the time that I have time left over, I'm too tired because I've taken care of everybody else all day. So don't don't bargain with your time. Don't put yourself on the back corner. You've got to put yourself and your goals on the forefront.
SPEAKER_01Well, one of the things that I personally like to do is get up and start my day with my goals. I believe in PMS goals. Yes, I put PMS for a reason because it's easy for us to laugh about and make fun of because we can remember it, right? But PMS stands for physical, mental, and spiritual goals, not religious goals, spiritual goals. So connect to the outside world and myself, right? And so if I start my day with my PMS goals or even my workout, right, I put me at the very start of the day instead of what we tend to do, like you're talking about putting yourself last and then going, I just don't have any energy to completely finish what's important to me.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Well, and there was a executive lady that I followed a while ago. I don't remember who she was, but she talked about scheduling in herself. She kept a schedule of she had clients, so she had, you know, this person at this time, this person at this time, and her whole schedule was blocked out. So she would block out whatever time as a meeting with herself that she can't she can't back out of because it's on her schedule, it's blocked out. So that's a a good way to do it as well.
SPEAKER_01I suggest we do that for our goals, I suggest we do that for our relationships as well.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Because if we don't schedule in time and people are like, well, Shali, why are we scheduling in time for relationships? And you're you're stating it right off the bat right here is we don't put the importance on it if we don't make the time for it. So if we don't make the time for ourselves and our relationships, we we will suffer in the relationships.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Another simple tool is just having a checklist. I'm a checklist person. I love to and it sounds so silly to say it out loud, but I get a little boost when I uh if I check mark something uh a task off of my list for the day. So that's another tool that helps you see if you're on track and that you're doing your tasks and you know.
SPEAKER_01Well, I'm gonna add a little bit to that, Sam, because I think the check mark goes a long way. But I also like for us to review things at the end of the day and look at things as as both a positive and as a movement forward for ourselves. And what I mean by that is if I look and I go, oh my gosh, I had 12 things on my list for me to accomplish today, and I got five of them done, I'm going to celebrate those five and not beat myself up for the seven I didn't complete. I'm gonna say to myself, Great job for doing that, and I'm gonna move those seven to tomorrow so I can still accomplish that, and I'm not gonna give myself a hard time for not accomplishing it in that moment, but I'm going to allow myself the ability to do it tomorrow.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And then lastly doing a self-assessment at the end of the day or the end of the week, the end of the month to ensure that all the actions that you're taking all are in alignment with your goals. Crucial.
SPEAKER_01Absolutely.
SPEAKER_02To conclude our manifestation month, I want to reiterate that by consciously utilizing tools like subconscious priming, neural rewiring, and vivid visualization, you actively shape your brain's reticular activating system to recognize opportunities for selective attention and identity shifting. When you pair that with a regulated nervous system, an upgraded sense of self-worth, and gratitude, these practices lay the groundwork that sets you up for success will take the aligned actions necessary. Ultimately, manifesting your dream life is not magic, but rather the practical and proven combination of neuroscience, psychology, and aligned action that turns your goals into your reality. Our hope is that you learned something this month that will get you on track to thriving through your life and living your desired reality.
