Welcome to the Healing Mile. I'm Carrie, your walking bestie. And earlier this week I shared the moment that changed everything for me. The moment I realized I didn't have to follow every thought I was thinking. I could notice them. I could pause. I could hear myself. And that awareness changed the way I moved through my life. So today, this walk is simple. We're not fixing anything or trying to change our thoughts. We're not trying to figure anything out. We're just going to come back to the present moment and begin to notice. So as you start to walk, bring your attention into your body. Feel your feet making contact with the ground beneath you. Step by step, notice the rhythm. There's a natural pace our bodies like to move at. Let yourself settle into that. Notice your arms as they swing gently at your sides. Notice your shoulders and allow them to soften just a little. This space is for you. Let your jaw relax. Now begin to notice your breath. You don't need to change it. Just feel it. Just notice the inhale moving in. And the exhale moving out. There's a steadiness in your breath that is always there, even when your mind feels busy. Let yourself stay here for a moment. Feeling your beautiful body, feeling your beautiful breath, feeling yourself walking right here, right now. Nothing to solve, nothing to rush toward. Just this moment. And as your body begins to settle, you may notice something else. Your thoughts. They're still there, moving, shifting, doing what they've always done, and this is where everything begins. When I think back to that moment in my living room that I talked about in my last episode, what stands out to me the most isn't even what I said. It's that I slowed down enough to hear it. Because before that my mind was constant, one thought leading to the next, thinking about what I should be doing, thinking about what I should have done differently, thinking about where I thought I should be in my life, and there was a lot of pressure in those thoughts. A lot of weight, a ton of guilt. And I didn't question them. I never did. I just listened. I believed them. I carried them with me. And then in that moment, something shifted. I paused, and for the first time, I wasn't fully inside the thoughts. I was on the outside, looking in. I was aware of them. And in that space, something new came through, something kinder, something true. And that moment changed everything. So as we walk right now, just begin to notice what your mind is doing. Don't change anything, don't try to make it quiet. Just notice the thoughts. Which ones have been running in the background today on a loop? Maybe it sounds like I have so much to get done later. I should be further along than I am. I hope that works out. I wish I handled that conversation differently. Whatever it is, just notice it. Let it be there. You're not doing anything wrong by thinking. This is just what your mind is doing, and it's just what it does. And now gently shift your attention. Instead of being inside the thought, see if you can just watch it. Almost like you're taking a small step back. The thought is still there, but you're seeing it. There's a difference. A subtle one, but an important one. Because when you're inside the thought, it feels real and urgent and consuming. But when you're watching the thought, there's space. There's perspective. There's choice. And you may move in and out of this. That's okay. This isn't about doing anything perfectly, it's just about noticing. You might notice your mind jumping ahead to leader today, planning, organizing, trying to stay on top of everything. Just notice that. You might notice your mind going back to something that already happened, replaying, reanalyzing. Just notice that. You might notice a thought about yourself, a judgment, a comparison. Just notice that. You don't need to follow it, you don't need to argue with it. You're simply becoming aware. And this is the beginning of becoming the leader, the CEO of your mind. Not by controlling it, not by forcing it to be quiet, but just by seeing it clearly. Because the moment you can see your thoughts, you're no longer being carried by them. You're walking beside them. And from that place, you get to choose where you go next. So as we continue to walk, let these following words move gently with you. You can say them to yourself or out loud, whatever feels best for you. I am aware of my thoughts. I can see what is moving through my mind. I create space with awareness. I return to myself in the present moment. I choose where my thoughts go. I am learning to lead my mind. So as you move through your day, when your mind feels full, when your thoughts feel fast, when you feel pulled in different directions, I hope you come back to this. Feel your body, notice your breath, and simply notice your thoughts. You don't have to change them right away. Awareness is enough because awareness creates space, and space creates the possibility for something new. As we wind down this short walk, notice how it feels to be here in your body, in your breath, in this moment, and aware of your thoughts without being pulled by them. This is something you can return to at any time, in the middle of your day, in a quiet moment, even in the middle of something busy or frustrating. It's just a small pause, a moment of noticing, and you're back. Awareness is always available to you. Every time you come back to it, you're strengthening your ability to lead your mind, to become your own CEO. Man, I hope you're as excited about this mind series as I am. I'm so happy you're with me walking on this journey together. Be sure to follow the podcast so you don't miss an episode.
