Subject: A Father’s Reflection — The Other Side of “Donna’s” Story Trisha, Jeff, and of course Tony I have not stopped thinking about this episode and my gut has spoken so I hope this finds you all well. I listened to Donna’s story on your podcast and I went quiet. Not out of resistance or denial, but because it mirrored so much of my own situation that it hit places I thought had already healed. However, I’m the man on the other side… I’m writing not to refute anything, but to offer a deeper view, through my lens. A lens that includes accountability, healing, pain, and perseverance. So, here’s my story, and it is long winded, so I will greatly appreciate if it’s read and shared to your audience. Toward the end of summer two years ago, my ex and I (though separated) had a moment where reconciliation felt possible. My ex asked to reconcile, and I believe, that moment was found by our intimacy being reignited almost overnight. Of course it didn’t last, and fell through shortly before Thanksgiving after an argument, but ultimately looking back I think it’s because we had not faced any of the resentment we had for each other. Then in December, while she was living in the home (that was purchased the year prior while I was still stationed in Japan), and I was living in an apartment 45 minutes away (still paying for all the household expenses), she invited me over to talk.
