In Buzzsprout, we measure your stats as
downloads—anytime your episode audio file is streamed or downloaded for at least 60 seconds. We'll only count one download per IP address in a 24-hour period. This means if someone plays the same episode multiple times in one day from the same device or network, it will only count as one download.
Because of this, a “download” and a “listener” are very similar metrics, so much so that we don’t display both on your Buzzsprout Stats page. Your episode download total is an accurate representation of your unique audience size.
Requesting a Listener Report
We can provide you with a report that matches the
IAB v2 definition of a listener for your podcast upon request. This report shows the number of listeners for your podcast in the last 7, 30, and 90 days.
Listener: Data that represents a single user who downloads content (for immediate or delayed consumption). Listeners may be represented by a combination of IP address and User Agent as described earlier. The listeners must be specified within a stated time frame (day, week, month, etc.).
