Frequently asked questions

1. Does Buzzsprout support video podcasts?

Yes! Buzzsprout offers video podcast hosting and distribution through our Audio + Video plans.

Upload one video episode to Buzzsprout, and we can publish it as video on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and YouTube. We’ll also create an audio version for the other podcast apps where your show is listed.

2. Where does Buzzsprout publish my video podcast?

Buzzsprout can publish your video podcast to Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and YouTube.

We’ll also distribute the audio version through your podcast’s RSS feed. That makes your show available in audio on apps such as Amazon Music, iHeartRadio, Pocket Casts, Overcast, Podcast Addict, and Castbox after you submit it to those directories.

Your audience can watch on supported video platforms or listen in their favorite podcast app.

3. Can I upload my video podcast once and publish it everywhere?

Yes! Upload one video file to Buzzsprout, add your episode details, and publish or schedule the episode.

Buzzsprout will send the video to Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and YouTube while distributing the audio to other podcast apps. Once your accounts are connected, you won’t need to upload the same episode separately to each platform.

4. How do I upload my video podcast to Spotify?

First, upload and publish a video episode in Buzzsprout. Your podcast must also be listed and claimed on Spotify.

Then:

  1. Open the Directories page in Buzzsprout.
  2. Select Spotify.
  3. Open the Video tab.
  4. Click Enable Video.
  5. Submit your podcast for Spotify’s approval.

Spotify typically reviews video podcast submissions within a few days. Once approved, video episodes published through Buzzsprout can automatically appear on your existing Spotify podcast listing.

5. How do I upload video to Apple Podcasts?

Upload your video episode to Buzzsprout as an MP4 or MOV file. We’ll prepare it for Apple’s HLS video streaming requirements.

To connect your show:

  1. Open the Directories page in Buzzsprout.
  2. Select Apple Podcasts.
  3. Make sure your podcast is listed and claimed in Apple Podcasts Connect.
  4. Create an API key in Apple Podcasts Connect.
  5. Upload the API key to Buzzsprout.
  6. Submit your podcast for Apple’s video review.

Once Apple approves your show, video episodes published through Buzzsprout can appear on your existing Apple Podcasts listing.

6. How do I upload my video podcast to YouTube?

First, publish at least one video episode in Buzzsprout. Then:

  1. Open the Directories page.
  2. Select YouTube.
  3. Open the Video tab.
  4. Click Connect to YouTube.
  5. Sign in with your Google account.
  6. Authorize Buzzsprout to publish videos.
  7. Choose your YouTube channel and podcast playlist.
  8. Select whether new episodes should be public or private.

After you connect your channel, new video episodes can be published to YouTube directly from Buzzsprout.

7. Can I connect Buzzsprout to my existing Apple, Spotify, and YouTube accounts?

Yes. You can add video to your existing Apple Podcasts and Spotify show listings without creating a separate podcast.

You can also connect an existing YouTube channel and publish into an existing podcast playlist or create a new playlist for your show.

8. What is an HLS video podcast?

HLS is the streaming technology Apple Podcasts uses to deliver video. It adjusts the video quality based on the listener’s device and internet connection.

You don’t need to create an HLS stream yourself. Upload an MP4 or MOV file to Buzzsprout, and we’ll prepare it for Apple Podcasts.

Spotify and YouTube use their own video systems, so Buzzsprout connects to those platforms separately.

9. Can listeners choose between video and audio?

Yes. Your audience can watch your podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or YouTube, or listen to the audio version in their favorite podcast app.

On Apple Podcasts, listeners can watch the video, listen to the audio, or read the episode transcript from the same podcast listing.

10. How much does Buzzsprout video podcast hosting cost?

Buzzsprout’s Audio + Video plan starts at $30 per month and includes:

  • Six hours of uploads per month
  • One podcast
  • Video publishing in up to 1080p
  • Distribution to Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and YouTube
  • Audio distribution to podcast directories
  • Buzzsprout’s premium podcasting features

Annual and Multi-Podcast video plans are also available.

11. What video file types can I upload to Buzzsprout?

Buzzsprout accepts MP4 and MOV video files smaller than 60GB.

Video plans include publishing in up to 1080p. We’ll process your upload and prepare the appropriate video or audio version for each podcast platform.

12. Does Buzzsprout include video podcast analytics?

Yes! Buzzsprout video plans include video podcast statistics.

Your Podcast Overview shows a breakdown of audio and video downloads. The Video tab provides more detailed results by episode and podcast app.

YouTube views appear separately because YouTube measures views differently from traditional podcast downloads.
