Inside Buzzsprout’s 2025 Team Meetup
At Buzzsprout, we spend most of our time connected by screens. Messages, calls, and pull requests are the norm. We're a high-performing team, and that requires a high level of trust.
Trust is the foundation that allows us to move quickly, collaborate honestly, and do great work together. Over time, we’ve learned that trust grows strongest when we step away from our screens and spend real time together.
So once a year, we step away from our families and routines to meet face-to-face. It’s not just to talk about what we’re building next, but to strengthen the relationships that make our work possible.
This year, our team gathered in Tampa, Florida, for a few days that reminded us how important that time really is. Our values come to life when we’re together, and this year’s meetup in Tampa was no exception.
Kicking Things Off
By late Tuesday afternoon, the team began arriving at Hotel Haya in Ybor City. As everyone filtered in, the Basecamp avatars turned back into human faces, handshakes turned into hugs, and "catch me up" stories filled the room.
That night, we hosted a Buzzsprout Podcaster Meetup at Oxford Exchange, a beautiful space that feels tailor-made for great conversations. Meeting local podcasters face-to-face and hearing their stories, the challenges they’ve overcome, and the excitement behind their next episode was the perfect way to begin the week.
It reminded us that behind every podcast are real people using Buzzsprout to share their voices with the world. The evening was equal parts humbling and energizing, and it set a great tone for everything that followed.
Serving and Building
Wednesday morning began with purpose. We met at the Ronald McDonald House to cook and serve the families staying there. It was a small act of service that allowed us to work together in a different context, give back to the community, and be reminded of how blessed we are.
After a quick lunch at Sparkman Wharf, we returned to Haya for a Buzzsprout positioning workshop. We spent the afternoon pitching ideas to help people Keep Podcasting. How can we make podcasting simpler and more fun? How can we celebrate, encourage, and motivate? It’s the kind of collaboration that happens best when we’re all in the same room, surrounded by people we trust.
After a hard day's work, we were ready to let our hair down. That started with an amazing meal at Sunda New Asian, followed by some friendly competition at PopStroke Mini Golf. Our teams battled it out under the string lights with plenty of laughter. Our Senior Designer, Dave, secured the win by shooting an even par on the Red course. Congrats, Dave!
A Grateful Look Back
Thursday was a blend of reflection and celebration.
We started the day with our State of the Product presentation, looking back at the growth, challenges, and lessons from the past year. Each department shared wins from new product features and marketing milestones to customer success stories. Every presentation highlighted the same truth: Buzzsprout is successful because our people care deeply about the work, each other, and our customers.
We opted for a quick lunch at Acropolis Greek Taverna that somehow turned into a highlight event with some authentic plate-breaking. It was one of those moments you can’t plan but will never forget.
We closed out the day by trading our putters for hockey jerseys and cheering on the Tampa Bay Lightning. It was a excellent reflection of the week itself: full of energy, teamwork, and celebration.
Wrapping Up
We wrapped up our week over brunch at 7th & Grove, sharing takeaways from our time together, inside jokes, and southern fried chicken on sugar waffles. The consensus was clear: this wasn’t time away from work; it was time that makes the work better.
These few days in Tampa reminded us that connection isn’t an extra; it’s essential. The relationships we build when we’re together shape how we communicate, solve problems, and support podcasters the rest of the year.
Keep Podcasting
Last year I wrote about Buzzsprout turning fifteen and what it means to keep building something over time. Starting is exciting. It is full of energy, ideas, and momentum. But keeping at it, showing up again and again, is what turns that early spark into something meaningful.
That's as true in software as it is in podcasting. Behind every Buzzsprout feature is a team that keeps showing up, refining, simplifying, and celebrating every step forward. We want podcasting to feel a little easier and more rewarding with every episode you create.
Our work is not about perfection. It is about progress. The same persistence that helps podcasters keep publishing is what helps us keep improving.
Here is to showing up, together, and helping podcasters everywhere Keep Podcasting.
