Does Buzzsprout Charge Sales Tax?

Yes, Sales Tax is charged on your monthly Buzzsprout Subscription when necessary. At Buzzsprout, we want to be transparent about pricing, and that includes how we handle sales tax. This article will clarify the details and help you understand what it means for you as a Buzzsprout podcaster.

Sales Tax laws in the U.S. are messy. Every state has its own rules for how digital services like Buzzsprout are taxed. Whether or not you are charged sales tax depends on the billing address associated with your Buzzsprout account. If your billing address is in one of the following jurisdictions, you’ll see an additional line item on your invoice for sales tax:  

All prices on our website are before sales tax. If sales tax applies, it will be added to your invoice total (this includes any add-ons like Magic Mastering and Cohost AI).

Once we receive and verify your documentation, we’ll update your account to ensure sales tax is not charged moving forward.

As Buzzsprout has grown, we’ve hit thresholds that require us to collect sales tax in certain states.  These are called economic nexus laws - basically, once we do enough business in a state, we have to start collecting tax there.  

Note: If your billing address has changed and now you’re in a non-taxable jurisdiction, no problem. The owner of your Buzzsprout account can update billing information anytime by going to Settings > Billing.
