By nature, RSS feeds are public, which means anyone can access your RSS feed and its content. To protect your hard work, many hosts allow you to lock your RSS feed. This is a great way to keep your podcast safe!
When you move your podcast to Buzzsprout, you will need to unlock your RSS feed so we can copy in your episodes and podcast details. We will break down the unlocking process for some of the major podcast hosts here.
Unlocking Your Spreaker RSS Feed
- Log in to your Spreaker account
- On your Dashboard, click Podcasts and then Podcast Settings
- Under Visibility, make sure your podcast is set to Public
- Save your changes
Once that updates, your feed will be unlocked! If you run into any issues during this process, the

Unlocking Your Libsyn RSS Feed
- Log in to your Libsyn account
- Select the Podcast section
- Scroll down until you see Feed Locked slider. Slide that to Unlocked
- Click Save

Unlocking Your Transistor RSS Feed
- Log in to your Transistor.fm account
- Go to the show you want to unlock
- Next, select Settings from the sidebar menu
- Scroll down to Advanced Settings
- You should see an option to uncheck the locked setting. It will say, "Lock this podcast to prevent it being imported into another hosting platform."
- Save your changes

Unlocking Your RSS.com RSS Feed
- Log in to your RSS.com account
- Head to your Dashboard and select Settings
- Scroll down to your Copy Protection section and click Disable Protection
- Confirm your changes

Unlocking Your Acast RSS Feed
- Log in to your Acast account
- Head to your Show Settings page
- Look for your locked setting and unlock the feed
- Save your changes

Note: If you don't see your host listed, they may not lock RSS feeds or have a public process for removing the lock. Email their support team to see if they can help!
Unlocking Your Buzzsprout RSS Feed
If you're moving away from Buzzsprout to another host, then you'll need to unlock your Buzzsprout RSS feed. To do that...
- Log in to your Buzzsprout account
- Go to Settings > Podcast Settings
- On that page, head to the Advanced tab
- Scroll down to the bottom of that page and uncheck the locked option
- Save your changes, and you'll be all set!
